Just a couple of photos to show you the painted figures which will go on the packaging.
Prince August went for the Prussian variation on the gun. Probably not noticeable but this has the wheels with the thicker spokes.
And they were released today (1 August).
Now lets hope for some cavalry in the near future.
Good to see that the artillery is moving forward.
ReplyDeleteGermany must still be an important market for PA. It was the first country where they sold products outside of Sweden.
I think they also wanted the biggest gun!
DeleteVery nice - !
ReplyDeleteNice enough kit, not that I really have a place for more artillery, not that that matters, I'll make a place.
ReplyDeleteEvidently artillery sell very well, so they were one ahead of the cavalry.
DeleteHopefully the cavalry will not be too far off?
Very handsome!
ReplyDeleteBest Regards,
Stokes
They are now taking orders. Purchased the bundle.
ReplyDeleteRahway
Deletelet me know how you get on - and photos are always welcome.
(The bases on the figures should be smaller than those shown in this blog, as they were corrected after I cast these.)
Steve
Just finished casting 5 artillery pieces and the crews to go with them. Far and away the best cannon mold produced. Every wheel I cast had all of its spokes. The only problems, and they are minor, were the handles on top of the cannon barrels which likely need to be vented and the hub of the wheel which usually only half filled. I am going to fit some of the wheels on the other PA cannon to dress them up a bit. Well done and now on to cavalry!!!
ReplyDeleteThe artillery crew set is a mixed bag. They do cast cleanly and the extra heads included are always useful. However, the "walk like an Egyptian" foot placement looks odd and the fitting of the hands and trail spike piece is awkward. However, given that the artillery crew molds are the least important in terms of castings made this is not a huge issue.

DeleteI do tend to agree with what you are saying, and in my opinion they look a bit on the large size. However they are still pretty nice, and fill a gap in the range.
Steve
Spiffing!
ReplyDeleteDo you know if the PA40 mounted kettle drummer would go well with the new SYW cavalry or not? I am desperate to acquire the new cavalry molds, before December, but doubt they will be released by then. I need them for a convention game and suspect I will have to make do with the earlier molds. Which is unfortunate.
ReplyDeleteJustin
ReplyDeleteI cannot answer as to the fit of the kettle drummer with the new moulds, as I have not seen any yet.
I doubt there will be anything by December, however you have prompted me to get in touch with the sculptor for an update.
If to have to use the old moulds, then look at my posts back in Nov & Dec 2015 (where did that time go). Doing a head swap on some of the old Karoliners results in some very nice cavalry.
Where are you based?
Steve
I am in California. Pacificon is bringing a convention to Fresno and a friend and I ate going to run an imaginations game in 40mm, using Maurice. I need Pandours, too, but can make do for this event.
DeleteJustin
DeleteCalifornia is a long trip from near Nottingham, England so I will give the convention a miss!
How many Pandour do yo need? Aly Morrison made some nice ones with head swaps on the Hungarians, see earlier post 20 March 2017.
Do you have any photos - I am always looking for feedback on what is being done with the figures?
Steve
Just check out the heads of those figures. Where do I go to place an order for them?
DeleteI need 26 rank and file and 6 command figures, drummer, standard bearer, and officer. I will check out the post. No photos as yet, just starting out. I plan on casting about four battalions this week.
ReplyDeleteJustin
DeleteThe heads are not commercially available, and I doubt I could obtain 32 of them.
Steve
and just as I get excited, my balloon is burst... I even bought the Russian fusilier and grenadier in summer uniform mold, to go with the heads. Alas... If he'll sell them, I'll gladly buy them.
DeleteJustin
DeleteI have been in touch with Aly, who has agreed to cast a few and then let me have the mould to finish off. However I understand the castings may take some cleaning up.
If we have problems can you make do with less than 32?
You have to promise to send photos!
Steve
Oh man. Absolutely! Yes, I can make do with less than 32 and cleaning is not an issue. You've made my day. I was casting earlier and jot one head came out..I think it is the casting pot, the temp fluctuates. So, you've up for three hours of frustration. Thank you. Reply with your email Addy and I will contact you through it. Thanks again. Pictures will certainly follow.

DeleteI have your email, I will keep in touch when/if I get them cast.
