Steve, now that multiple army molds are out have you ever thought to put together a list of what molds would go together to produce close approximations of some of the lesser powers involved in the SYW? I think that would be of good use for those of us less versed in the period and would lead to yet more casting!
It's a good idea, and one of those things on my 'that would be a good idea' list, and also I know PA are keen. As with all things done it spare time it is getting around to it!
I have actually made a start, and will post an example of what I have done.
Started casting today. Had some trouble with the fusilier heads on the full coat infantry soldier mold and had to cut off some mold to allow the metal to get into where the head is. After that, casting was mostly trouble free. Thankfully, the NCO has a fusilier head that casts readily so I used that to help make up the numbers of heads I didn't get before I cut the mold. Aside from that, the figures look nice!
One other thing to note is that the figures are slightly larger than the previous Prussians, Austrians and Russians being taller and with bigger bases. Happily, the detail is good and the separate swords attach solidly. Hopefully the cavalry will get back to the smaller soldier size to save us metal!
