The Russian infantry has arrived

Well, at long last PA have released the Russians!

Below are the assembly instructions which I downloaded from the PA website. Not very good quality I'm afraid as I had to download PDF and then scan to JPG, as you can't load PDFs into the blog............unless you know better?

The figures look good, and as you can see on moulds 3110, 3111 & 3112 we did get the pouch to add to the waist belt to make the grenadiers, so something came of the delay. (I had to make my own pouch from plasticard).

I've not actually seen these black moulds, so I would be interested to receive feedback on how they cast.

The SYW range has been out quite a while now, does anyone have any painted up units they would like me to load onto the blog?

As always, comments welcome.

  5. Did some initial casting with the new Russian molds (the winter troops) and they look great! Sad to say that as these newer molds get better and finer with the details, the first Prussian molds are starting to show their age (mainly the lack of buttons and such). All in all, however, the line is working out fine. Looking forward to the cavalry!

The extra detail was added when I plucked up courage to ask for it!

  6. Glad to see there seem to be a lot of you out there buying the moulds and casting away.

Do any of you have any photos of painted figures or units you would like me to load up?

If you have positive feedback on these moulds please add something to the PA website, it all helps PA to sell moulds - and the more they sell the keener they will be to produce more.

  7. Hi Steve - what would you recommend as a drummer for the Russians in the winter uniform? Im thinking of the Prussian drummers being the nearest?

    1. That was the intention - and what I did with the march attack figures. It was a case of getting the most out of the number of moulds PA were happy to make.
For the march attack standard bearer I converted an infantryman as I did not like the sloping flag with the upright muskets, looks fine provided you don't mind him having a cartridge box.
